O you, Rip van Winkle
You who ran away from the world
You walked in a daze for years
And when you rejoined the world,
They had moved on
O you, Ahab
You who chased a goal around the sea
You hunted your prey for years
And when you looked for those you loved,
They had left
O you, Rodya Raskolnikov
You who invited bitter reason into your life
You made the Devil your ally
And when you acted,
Your victim tortured you
O you, Kain
You who fathered anger into this world
You made your sacrifice to this world
And when it was rejected,
You lashed out in anger
Oh, it is me
Me who looked in a mirror
I saw myself four times
And then I wept,
For the time wasted on bitter anger
I usually find poetry to be awkward or to have a unintelligible message(to me a least.) This is evocative, clear and well written in my opinion. It gives a glimpse into your inner self. Well done my friend.
Thank you. 🙂
Also find it to be relatable and accessible.
